• Any type of body, build, shape, weight, or frame can do yoga – you can also be any age
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class starts if it’s your first time at the studio. We like to have a quick chat with you before you start and there’s a form to fill in
  • You do not have to be able to touch your toes or know any of the poses to come to class
  • There’s no one right way to do a pose – we’ll help you find your right way
  • Just getting to class is “good enough” – if you want to lie down and rest the whole time, we won’t bother you
  • Yoga is not about what the pose looks like from the outside; it’s about what’s going on for you -on all levels-inside
  • Wear comfy clothes that you can move around in. Stretchy is good – big and baggy isn’t really. It falls downside up if you’re upside down and can get in your way during other poses. And sometimes…..it lets us see more of you than either of us would prefer.
  • We practice in bare feet – but this is Scotland, so bring wooly/fluffy/warm socks to put on for relaxation. It’s very difficult to drift off into a state of relaxed bliss if your feet are cold (scientific fact)
  • You can borrow our mats. We hope you like them so much that you want to buy your very own. It’s just more hygienic in the long run.
  • Please turn your phone to silent (see ‘state of relaxed bliss’ mentioned above) That state is also difficult to achieve if somebody is getting Twitter notifications every 8 seconds.
  • Think of a smell scale like this…on one side ‘I have bathed in an awful lot of perfume/aftershave’ and on the other side ‘I have not bathed at all’ Please try to be somewhere in the middle of that scale. People beside you are going to be breathing deeply at some point during class. We don’t want them passing out.
  • Please don’t walk over other people’s mats. Walk around them. It just keeps everyone happy.
  • Please roll your mat and blanket neatly before you put them away. It makes me a little crazy to see them all flung on the shelves. Oh…and it’s helpful to the people who will use them after you too.
